Alula is temporarily unavailable
Alula is a female Great Horned Owl. As a young bird in 2006, she was found as a chick on the ground after she fell or was blown from her nest, and suffered a broken wing from the fall. When she was rescued and brought in to the Alaska WildBird Rehabilitation Center she was not yet fully feathered or flighted. The vet attempted to pin her broken bone, but the pin did not hold and her wrist twisted as it healed, causing her to be unable to fly to hunt and survive in the wild.
She is now a valued avian ambassador in our education program.
