Shannon Jensen

AWBRC - Executive Director

Shannon has been working with wildlife since graduating from Washington State University in 1995.  She worked at the Alaska Zoo for 26 years prior to coming over to the center.  Shannon enjoys the medical aspect of caring for birds that will hopefully be released back into the wild and is currently working on her bird watching & identification skills (when the birds are in the wild).

In her free time she enjoys volunteering with ACF church (ACF Kids) in Eagle River, cooking and learning the piano.

Jessica Spotts, DVM

AWBRC - Veterinarian

Dr. Jessica Spotts was born and raised on a hobby farm in Oregon. Her love of all animals has lead her to veterinary Medicine through Oregon State University.

She currently practices in the valley as a small animal veterinarian, but has always wanted to work with wildlife and exotic animals.

She has made a stronger connection with birds through raising back yard chickens and now is expanding into wild birds through AK wildbird Rehab.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family exploring the last frontier on foot, bike or motorized vehicle.
