Volunteers Build New Mew

In mid-July we were excited to have the volunteer services of an amazing group of 7 from the City Church of Charlottesville, Virginia.  These energetic and dedicated young folks came to Alaska to offer their services to a non-profit for a 4-day project.  We had a difficult mission: to construct a 12' x 16' outdoor bird mew (cage) to be used by a future education bird.  They started with a set of plans from our retired engineer volunteer, a pile of lumber, tools some of them had never used before and a skilled building volunteer to direct the project.  But with determination and willingness to work hard and learn, they got all the major structure completed!  All of us at Alaska WildBird Center are incredibly grateful for their contribution.
